Frequently Asked Questions

Designing a kitchen is more than choosing cabinets and worktops — it’s about creating a space that reflects your lifestyle, supports your daily routines, and brings joy to your home. Whether you’re building from scratch or remodeling an existing space, the journey can be exciting but also overwhelming without the right guidance.

Our Frequently Asked Questions are aimed at helping you to understand how Kubo work.

This is a very tough question to answer, it depends on many factors; Room size, quantity of units, internals, door range, handle choice, worktop material and appliance spec. Typically, my kitchen projects start from £20K. My average project is £30k-£40k, but I have done kitchens up to £55k.
I fit all my own kitchens, with help from another trusted local fitter that I know well. There is lots of heavy lifting involved in our work, so it’s a two-person job most of the time.
My portfolio from a small list of handpicked UK based suppliers, offers you the complete range of kitchens. I have ‘contemporary handleless sleek’ to ‘traditional framed classic’ and anything in between. In the middle we have the popular modern shaker styles and slab doors with handles. I also work with an amazing local joiner, so I can do complete bespoke if that’s where you’re at.

To be very honest, 95% of my clients opt for Quartz, which is a very good choice! I have been working with my local stone fabricator for over 10 years, they do such a great job. Some of my designs call for an Oak breakfast bar or similar wooden feature elsewhere, which I can of course do too.
I can also do Dekton, Granite and solid surfaces if you wish. I tend not to work with laminated worktops. See more information about the different types of worktops here

No, my furniture is manufactured and delivered rigid. Sometimes if we have a particularly large piece we’ll send it RTA ‘ready to assemble’ (we don’t like to use the flatpack word!) to aid access into your home (wardrobes etc.)

Any ‘fitted furniture’, for example: Bedroom wardrobes, Home/garden offices, utility rooms and boot rooms.

For just £525 (incl. VAT) you will receive your very own kitchen design consultant, who will be there to hold your hand every step of the way. From the very start, during the design, fit right up to the clean-up and handover at the end.

You will receive;
A digital survey, Ultra HD design using industry leading software, presented on a VR headset and tablet plus. These will be emailed to you plus you will receive A3 print offs for you to keep. An accompanied trip to the design centre, itemised quote and door samples for you to keep at home. Oh, I should mention this fee gets credited on your order. So, you could actually say Kubo does indeed offer a ‘free design service’.

If I had a small local showroom, the chances are I wouldn’t have the exact kitchen that you’re looking for on display! So, my business model is built around taking my clients to my supplier’s huge design centre. It’s a short journey away (around an hour) but well worth the visit. It’s not everyday you buy a new kitchen, so it’s got to be worth the morning out of your schedule.

That’s completely fine, it’s not for everybody. You can just say so, I’ll wish you luck with the project and we part as friends.

I cannot offer finance unfortunately. I do take staged payments though: a deposit, a payment 4 weeks before delivery and the last payment on practical completion.

I retrained at night school, qualified as a Carpenter and started in the kitchen industry in 2007. Prior to that I was in project management and computer aided design. Having over 15 years’ experience on site and fitting kitchens, helps me massively with the design work.

Subject to popular belief it does not stand for Kitchens, Bedrooms, Utilities and Offices! But that is kind of cool. It comes from the Portuguese word ‘Cubo’ meaning hub or central point, as in the Kitchen! My family has strong connections with Portugal, as my late grandfather (my mentor) lived there after he retired from building his successful business.
Humour me for a minute and picture these two scenarios, if you would. A rookie young ‘designer’ that is not only trying to serve on the trade desk, but has several quick scribbled jobs piled up on their desk. Targets to meet and builders shouting at them. As opposed to the chap that has spent an hour digitally measuring up your space, taking countless notes and leaving no stone unturned. He has the luxury of time and being able to lay it out in his head as he goes. Back to his quiet office, he uses his 15 years + experience with the potential to take you out of your comfort zone by suggesting thing you may not have thought of. He’s fully engaged with you and and as excited about the project as you are!
For Quooker tap, yes as I’m registered dealer. Another couple of good brands too. Unfortunately, not with brands like Neff, Bosch and Miele, simply because I don’t have a showroom with their appliances on display. I do deal with a trade only distributor covering a lot of the mainstream brands though, so I can take the hassle away from you if you wish.

Yes, absolutely. I would just need to cross check your choices against the furniture. See more information about the brands Kubo work with here

My kitchens are all made to order, so I naturally sit in the price category above these types of ‘off the shelf’ suppliers. Therefore, when you’re not “comparing eggs with eggs” it’s unlikely the prices will compete. I’m always very happy to speak to you about your kitchen quote though and offer any advice I can.
My projects are mostly in and around Alton. Sometimes further afield into Liphook, Alresford, Farnham, Petersfield, Haslemere and Guildford etc. I have done two kitchens in Ascot, but wouldn’t travel any further than 20 miles from Alton.
No, these types of projects are best left to plumbers, tilers and builders.
Not personally no, but I can of course arrange this for you. I have a little black book of trusted trades people, who I can draft in. Roughly a third of my clients ask me to provide a complete turnkey service for them. Others have builders on site with their own team

From the first meeting the design process is 2 – 4 weeks. Once you’re happy and have paid your deposit, your kitchen will be delivered in 6 – 10 weeks. Site fitting is between 3-4 weeks, including the worktop templating and fabrication. Wardrobes take approx. half this time.

If you have taken my fully managed project option, I will issue you a day to day schedule. I understand that this is your family home and you would like to know who’s coming into it and when.

I’ve got you covered! I can install my loan kitchen into your garage, conservatory or front room if you like! This is a mobile sink unit, with Quooker boiling water tap, that just needs a simple connection to your mains water supply. I also have a loan induction hob and table top oven. I’m told that takeaways get monotonous after a week and washing up in the bath isn’t fun!

I always like to have an old school chat on the phone with you first. I know that you’ll have loads of questions for me, I will of course have some for you too. At the end of this call, if you wish I will arrange a free home visit. Ready to get started? Book your call online

This visit just allows me to meet you and anyone else involved in the project. I can answer any further questions you may have. I will explain how I like to work and then we discuss if we’re the right fit for each other.
Yes of course. I can do you a design, supply and delivery service. Also then support you/your fitter/builder during the install with any queries.
